Time to talk about toning up.
Many times, my clients, especially women, want to know how to rid themselves of jiggly arms. The desire to have toned arms is understandable, as this part of us is almost always visible!
Keeping your body tight and toned requires adding in resistance training to your routine.
While there are several different exercises that target specific trouble areas on your arms, today we'll focus on the almighty bicep.
One my personal favorite moves is Bicep Curls with dumbbells. I love it because it gives your arms a lean, toned appearance and you can do it virtually anywhere!
You can do this at home or even in the office on your lunch break. No excuses.
The Move: Standing Bicep Curl
What you'll need: Pair of dumbbells
I vary my dumbbell poundage from 5-8 lbs. Choose a weight that you feel comfortable with at this time and slowly work your way up to a more challenging weight. This is a simple yet effective exercise. That's why I love it.
1. Stand up straight with feet shoulder-width apart.
2. Hold each dumbbell in your hands. Palms are turned away from your body.
3. Keep your upper arms stationary and close to your torso.
4. Slowly curl weights up in both arms until biceps are fully contracted.
5. Slowly lower back to starting position.
Complete 3 sets of 10. Aim to do this 3 times per week. You’ll see your arms getting stronger and less flabby in no time. Follow your resistance training regimen with a plant-based power shake!
